Last week we welcomed guests to Craiglockhart Campus for the Vice-Chancellor’s Cyber Dinner. Guests included industry leaders, influencers and key decision makers such as Chief Technical Officers and CEOs and were hosted by colleagues across the University.

Professor Bill BuchananThe event showcased the exciting work of our Cyber Academy, with Professor Bill Buchanan showing exactly how University experts’ academic knowledge can be turned into practical solutions for industry, government and individuals at a time when cyber security is high on everyone’s agenda.

Professor Buchanan gave a demonstration of how easily everyday items can be hacked into, which included a Wi-Fi enabled doll which was able to answer questions.

The event offered a great insight into the advances our Cyber Academy has made, and how it is helping to support the University’s ambition to grow our academic reputation. Successes to date include:

  • Integration within EU Centre of Excellence,
  • Key Industry/law enforcement engagements,
  • Creation of Virtualized Training Infrastructure and
  • Future plans for World-leading infrastructure.

Cyber Academy dinnerAs well as showing current achievements of the University, the event offered a special opportunity to engage guests in a way to develop new relationships along with generating interest for future philanthropic, research and commercial income for the University.
